Updating your site brings with it a range of benefits including potentially higher rankings, more enquiries and a better perception of your business. Plus, in most cases, charges can be agreed before we commence work, so there are no surprises when it's time to pay. We can plug in a Content Management System (CMS) so that you can make future content updates yourself.
These pages can be altered easily without any special skills within a web browser giving you greater control over regularly changing page content.
When deciding on a web designer it is important to be clear about the real cost.
spIT are all about being upfront with pricing. We are confident that our prices are great value for money and assure you that there are no surprises when you receive the invoice. Below we explain those most common questions we are asked about price.
Typically, there are only two ongoing costs. These are hosting and domain names. We charge $325 per year for hosting, $32.50 per annum for popular domain names such as .com or .com.au. We include a secure certificate at no additional fee.
Artwork costs depend on time taken. Typically, as a guide, web banners cost around $35 for example. If photos have to be airbrushed substantially that adds time. If stock images are used there is a charge of roughly $10 each; depending on the resolution requirements and the charge by the stock firm (i.e. is it for web or print).
Often very small infrequent changes like updating a phone number, address, that sort of thing are free; and are based on fair play. We generally use a time tracker tool for all work and charges are based on time.
So as a rule small web changes of between 5 – 10 mins are $15. Jobs taking between 11 – 20 minutes are $25. Jobs of 21 mins up to half an hour are $35 and jobs taking up to 1 hour are charged $65.
TIP: Often it is most cost effective to bundle your requests into one job.
We typically do not quote on small jobs expected to take less than 2 hours. However, quotes for any job can be provided before work commences if you prefer.
If the job is a substantial programming job or other hard to quote on project we will provide an estimated quote with a fixed maximum cost. This means we expect to complete for the quoted price, but it will not exceed the fixed maximum cost even if the job runs over expected time (unless the customer has requested extra features). This is only required on jobs where there are unknown factors or where substantial customisation is required. For all other quotes where we do not provide a fixed maximum we will adhere to a fixed quote.
This is a question we get asked all the time. And of course, depends on what you as the customer would like. Professionally built 5-15 page websites with a contact form, location map, profile, home, testimonials and several other pages typically cost in the vicinity of $2,995. These sites are professionally designed, mobile responsive, self-editable, include social media integration, Google Analytics, our Essentials SEO package, 12 months hosting and put through a series of site audits to ensure they meet with Google's expectations together with speed optimisation and highest levels of security.
Again this is a common question we get asked and is dependent on many factors. Typically, the starting price for a professional e-commerce website is $4995. This increases based on the features you require and any customisations we make for you. The average price is $7500 and we are happy to quote first, based on your exacting requirements. All eCommerce websites are professionally designed, mobile responsive, self-editable and include social media integration, plus Google Analytics, our Essentials SEO, 12 months hosting and custom configured high end shopping cart.
We are a group of professional developers. All of the systems we deploy are built in house and our programmers can customise to your exact requirements. Of course additional customisation and coding is more expensive and is charged at $135 per hour and $75 per half hour. Our programmers are very good and quick so well worth the investment.
Where a quote is provided for a job that exceeds $1000 we ask for a 50% deposit to commence work. In such cases balance is due on completion of the work. For smaller jobs up to the value of $1000 we generally complete the work and invoice on completion with payment expected within seven calendar days.
Time frame is based on the project scope at the commencement of the project. Should there be alterations to the scope of work this may have an impact on the overall completion time. It is important to mention any alterations as early as possible. Projects are added to the schedule of work on receipt of deposit. Delays with providing requested information or deposit can impact project delivery times. The project will only commence following receipt of deposit. The specifics on delivery time for your project are outlined in the timeline.
During the development period, the current website will be unaffected. The new website is developed in a separate environment, not accessible to the public. As we get closer to launch access can be granted for specific stakeholders to preview the new website, prior to it being set live to the public.
Migration of all relevant current content from the pre-existing website will be taken care of by spIT. Where possible existing URL structures will be retained. However, where pages may be deleted or the existing URL not ideal the affected URLs will be redirected to the new URL with a 301 redirect rule.
We understand that there can be changes to project scope during the development phase. Where possible we do our best to accommodate new requests without altering the overall cost and without altering the estimated completion time. However, should the request be well outside of scope we will bring this to your attention. We can provide a separate costing for the additional work together with the estimated impact on completion time if required.
Once a project is live access to our prompt service continues. At our discretion, infrequent small update requests typically taking less than 10 minutes are completed for no charge on a fair play basis. Where a request will likely attract a charge spIT will confirm the expected cost before commencing work and typically provide an estimated cost together with a capped maximum price.
We require a 50% deposit to lock in the project and commence work. Balance is due on or before completion. On very large projects we may require a further 25% stage payment when the site is getting close to completion. Where a stage payment is required, we will provide evidence that the project is at least 75% complete.

This CMS puts you in direct control of your website content seamlessly blending a wide variety of deployable CMS Modules, each designed for the specific information you will be managing. By incorporating only the CMS modules your business requires, the admin is super clean and easy to use.
One can quickly add scalable content such as building a beautiful photo gallery, or add things like upcoming Events or Tariffs, edit Staff Profiles, Manage PDF documents and much more. This CMS was specifically designed with Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in mind. Meta tag information is automatically generated, but you also have the ability to manually enter this information yourself. The URL structure is Search Engine friendly with all URL's having the format of www.yoursite.com/contact rather than www.yoursite.com/page.php?PageID=123 plus all your pages will load super fast.
Ability to edit all of the main content on your website quickly and easily such as adding or deleting paragraphs, changing the order text appears, or adding bullet points. Plus add / remove / change images and photographs to supplement the text or to highlight a particular aspect of the business e.g. a photo of your shop frontage if you have a retail store.
The CMS is developed so that the administrator can alter the actual website content such as text and images but not the main web site design layout (framework). This serves two purposes and is important; one it means that pages are edited on a page by page basis and only the 'content' can be altered so you never have issues with pages displaying incorrectly. And two this control of continuity of design brings with it speed performances not only on the editing side but also on the all-important customer browsing times.
